We still have some available! How would you like to open the gift of eternal life?
The greatest gift ever given is absolutely free! It's not earned (by being good and doing good), it's received as a gift. The apostle Paul wrote "the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Rom. 6:23)
How do you "unwrap" the gift? It's simple . . . there's good news and bad news . . .
Here's the bad news:
1) You are a sinner. Yeah, you and I both have a sin problem...and sin will keep us all out of heaven. Paul said "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Rom. 3:23) You can't come to God until you realize you are guilty of sin and eternal death in hell.
2) The penalty for sin is death. Rom. 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is (eternal) death..." Yup, we've earned it. We have earned
Here's the good news:
1) Christ died for you. Rom. 5:8 tells us, "For when we were still without strength (totally unable to save ourselves), in due time Christ died for the ungodly." Wow! Christ took your sin and mine and paid the full price on the cross.
2) You can be saved through faith in Christ. By understanding our need and believing Christ paid your punishment, you receive eternal life! We are saved through believing, not being good and doing good. Rom. 10:9, 10 says, "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and BELIEVE in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one BELIEVES unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." You can do it!
Make it personal, talk to the Lord and tell Him you are sorry for your sin. Tell Him you believe Christ died for you and paid your punishment. Trust in Christ and ask Him to be your Savior!
I'll even give you a sample prayer. (Remember, it's your faith that saves you, not your words.)
"Dear Jesus, I am guilty of death because of my sin. Please forgive me and cleanse me. I believe that Jesus Christ paid my punishment when He died on the cross. I love you and ask you to be my Savior. Thank you for eternal life! In Jesus' name, amen."
Did you pray a prayer "like" that? Please let me know!
God bless you, Pastor
